  1. The Wolf is a Carnivorous MAMMAL,
  2. related to the JACKAL and DOG.
  3. Three wolf species are generally
  4. recognised, the grey wolf, the red wolf and
  5. the prairie wolf, or more commonly known as
  6. the COYOTE. The grey wolf, also called timber
  7. wolf in north america, resembles a
  8. GERMAN_SHEPHERD, with a shaggy coat,pointed
  9. ears and a bushy tail, the male wolf usually
  10. grows to a maximum of 3ft (90cm) high at the
  11. shoulder and weighs about 45kg (7st).

  13. Wolves were once common all over Britain.
  14. In the 16th Century Scaotland suffered a
  15. "Wolf Plague". The last Scottish wolf was
  16. hunted down and killed in 1743.
